Marketing Direction Hires New Vice President, Account Director Beth Sweeney

Tampa, FL (Thursday, September 15, 2016) – Marketing Direction President & Founder Christy Vogel announced today that Beth Sweeney has officially joined the Marketing Direction team as Vice President, Account Director. Sweeney will oversee account direction and will provide insights, positioning and marketing solutions to both new and existing clients in addition to streamlining operations.

headshotWith over 25 years of marketing and public relations experience, Sweeney has a proven talent for driving strategic promotional initiatives that increase sales and maximize return on investment through management of national and local programs for a wide range of brands, corporations and advertising agencies.

A Chicago native, Sweeney attended Northern Illinois University majoring in Communications and began her career with E.H. Brown Advertising working with clients such as The Principal Financial Group and Devry Institute of Technology.  From there her advertising agency career took her to Oglivy & Mather where she was an Account Service Manager for Sears’ Craftsman and Kenmore Brands as well as Kimberly Clark Bryers Ice Cream and the Illinois Tourism Bureau.

Sweeney moved to Florida with her family in 2002 and joined Checkers and Rally’s, LLC in 2003 where she became Director of Creative Services until April of 2006.  Her core responsibilities included development and management both an external and in-house advertising agency. This position developed both broadcast and print campaigns for all promotional and sports marketing programs.

In 2007, Sweeney took her expertise to Bonefish Grill, one of the family of restaurant brands owned by Bloomin’ Brands, Inc.  As Senior Manager of Marketing and Public Relations, she steered strategy, development and implementation of all local marketing programs.  She also managed an internal staff of local marketing managers and 22 Joint Venture Partners across the United States.  This position partnered her with Consumer Insight, R&D, Operations and Finance teams to identify marketing opportunities and implement new programs to the field.  She played a key role in advertising campaign development, yearly planning, CRM/database management and development of system-wide charity programs and led public relations strategy on all national and local programs.

Since then, Sweeney has worked on brand management for Margaritaville, The Fresh Market and four regional pizza brands across the United States as Director of Marketing for Askar Brands.
